Xavax UT 200 Electronic Thermostat
Operating Instructions
Description and Function
The UT 200 is an electronic thermostat with a digital display of the set temperature and actual temperature, which is very easy to operate and can be used almost anywhere. It measures the temperature across a very wide temperature range via an external temperature sensor and can be used as both a heating thermostat and a cooling thermostat. The UT 200 can work in automatic mode or it can be switched to manual mode. The UT 200 is simply plugged in between the mains power socket and the electrical appliance and can switch appliances with a power consumption of up to 3680 VA (230 V/16 A) on and off. The set temperatures are stored, even if the device is unplugged or the mains power cuts out.
Safety and Maintenance
- Do not open the device – it does not contain any parts requiring maintenance by the user. If there is a fault, send the device to our service department.
- Avoid exposing the device to moisture, dust or direct sunlight.
- The device is for dry, indoor use only.
- Do not exceed the maximum connection power stated.
- Use only a dry cloth for cleaning, which may be slightly dampened if the unit is extremely soiled.
- Never use cleaning agents containing solvents for cleaning.
- The power outlet is only voltage-free when unplugged. Do not connect one unit to another
Operation
Getting started
Place the separate sensor in the location where the temperature is to be measured. If necessary, fasten the sensor to the location with a cable tie, for example
Note:
- The temperature sensor is not suitable for using over long periods in liquids!
- Plug the mains plug of the device into a 230 V earthed mains socket and plug the appliance (16 A/3680 VA max.) into the socket on the UT 200.
- After a short self-test, the device is in automatic mode and the current temperature from the sensor will be displayed.
- Note that only the display backlight switches on when a button is first pressed. The device will only react when a button is pressed (while the backlight is on). The display backlight will switch off automatically after a few seconds if you do not press anything
Manual operation
- If you wish to switch the connected appliance on or off manually, press the”+” and”-” buttons simultaneously to leave automatic mode. “Manual” appears on the display.
- You can now switch the appliance on or off manually with the “On/Off” button. The display will read “On” or “Off”, depending on whether the appliance is on or off.
- Press”+” or”-” to return to automatic mode again. “Auto” appears on the display.
Setting the switch-on and switch-off temperature
- For automatic operation, you need to set a switch-on and a switch-off temperature, at which the connected appliance will be switched on or off.
- Check whether the device is in automatic mode (“Auto” on the display).
- To set the temperature, first press the “On/Off” button briefly.
- Enter the switch-on temperature with the”+” and”-” buttons. You can reach the desired value quicker if you hold down the respective button longer.
- Press the “On/Off” button again briefly.
- Now enter the switch-off temperature with the”+” and”-” buttons.
- Press the “On/Off” button again briefly.
- The device then returns to operating mode. The display will show the current temperature from the sensor, depending upon whether the selected mode of operation (see the following section) is “heating ” or “cooling”, and will show if the appliance is currently on or off (“On”/”Off”)
Selecting “heating” or “cooling” mode
Heating
- If you want to use the UT 200 in heating operation, the switch-off temperature should be set to a higher value than the switch-on temperature.
- Example: Switch-on temperature 15 °C
- Switch-off temperature 22 °c
- If the temperature drops below the switch-on temperature, the heating appliance will be switched on.
- If the switch-off temperature is exceeded, the heating appliance will be switched off.
Cooling
- If you want to use the UT 200 in cooling operation, the switch-off temperature should be set to a lower value than the switch-on temperature.
- Example: Switch-on temperature 22 °c
- Switch-off temperature 17 °C
- If the switch-on temperature is exceeded, the cooling appliance will be switched on.
- If the temperature drops below the switch-off temperature, the cooling appliance will be switched off.
