Oventrop GmbH & Co. KG hereby declares that this product complies with the basic requirements and other relevant provisions of the applicable EC Directives. The declaration of conformity can be obtained from the manufacturer

Correct use
Operating safety is only guaranteed if the product is used correctly. The “R-Tronic” wireless thermostat is used to transmit actual and nominal temperatures of rooms to a “gateway” that controls building automation applications. It supports a variety of “EEP” EnOcean profiles for the European market. This allows the thermostat to be connected to various gateways, such as “butler” or “R-CON FBH”. Apart from transmitting temperature values, additional functions can also be activated, such as fan speed control. In addition, the wireless thermostat can also be used to control freely definable “Sonderfunktionen” (RPS telegram). Any other use of the product will be considered incorrect use. Claims of any kind against the manufacturer and/or his authorized representatives due to damage caused by incorrect use will not be accepted. Observance of the operating instructions is part of compliance with incorrect use.

Overview of “R-Tronic” with time profile control

Functional description
Together with an actuator, the “R-Tronic” wireless thermostat is used to wirelessly control the temperature of rooms as well as zones within rooms. Depending on the model, power is provided to “R-Tronic” via two batteries or a power pack (100 – 240 V ~/50 – 60 Hz). The communication between the “R-Tronic” and the actuator for radiator control is carried out via a wireless connection. The term “teach-in” refers to a wireless connection that is established between two appliances

Installation

Installation location

  • The “R-Tronic” wireless thermostat should be installed at a location where good circulation of ambient air is guaranteed.
  • If possible, install the wireless thermostat on an inner wall or on a pillar at a height of 140 – 170 cm.
  • Ensure that the temperature of the wireless thermostat is not influenced by external sources of heat (e.g. sunlight or nearby heating devices).
  • This is the only way to achieve a high degree of measuring accuracy
As an alternative to wall attachment, you can operate the wireless thermostat using a table stand (available optionally as an accessory). The table stand should be self-supporting, e.g. placed upright on a table and uncovered.
Ensure that the radio range cannot be adversely affected by spatial factors such as the room geometry or objects, materials and interference sources. Such factors may produce a “radio shadow”, e.g. behind metal objects.

Wall attachment of the fixing plate of the “R-Tronic” with wall bracket (battery operation)

  • Power is supplied via batteries as standard. A flush-mounted power pack and a table stand with mains adaptor are available as accessories.
  • Insert two 1.5 V AA batteries into the unit. The +/- markings indicate the position in which the batteries should be inserted.
  • Horizontally screw the fixing plate for the wireless thermostat (included in the delivery) to the wall
  • Insert the wireless thermostat into the fixing plate from above.
  • “R-Tronic” is now ready for the “teach in” process (refer to 7.5 on page 34).

Operation

Menu structure

Proceed as follows to access the menu:
Press and hold the menu button for at least one second to access the “MAIN MENU”.

The “MAIN MENU” contains the following main areas: “TEMPERA- TURES”, (“TIME PROFILE”), “SETTINGS”, “INFORMATION” (refer to

Illustr. 3 on page 28).

You can navigate within the “R-Tronic” menus and select the desired functions via the menu button (refer to Illustr. 1 on page 26 (6)). You can access all the sub-menus and functions by turning (navigating) and pressing (confirming the selection and saving). You can press the Back button to go back to the previous step.

Once the display has been activated, it returns to the default view after several seconds if no additional operating steps are performed.

The following symbols are shown on the display of the wireless thermostat.

Overview of the supported EnOcean equipment profiles (EEP)
The wireless thermostat supports a total of five EEP profiles, which, together with a gateway, each controls different and, in some cases, numerous functions. Always ensure that only a single profile can be activated during commissioning. The overview of user navigation controlled via the display (refer to Illustr. 3 on page 28) shows the respective activation process for each individual EEP profile. “R-Tronic RTB”:

The setting of the EEP profile
Ensure that your gateway is compatible with the EnOcean Equipment Profile (EEP). During initial commissioning, adjust the settings as follows to set the desired EEP:

A5-10-02 A5-10-03 A5-10-04 A5-10-06 A5-10-06 + RPS

Changing the EEP profile
If you want to change the EEP profile or if you mistakenly activated the wrong profile, you must set the thermostat back to its factory settings. A different profile or the correct profile can then be activated during reinstallation.

Teaching in of the gateway
Activation of the EEP profile does not establish an automatic communication link to the gateway. A link is established once a so-called send telegram is sent via the “R-Tronic”. Once the gateway receives this telegram, the teach in process for the wireless thermostat begins.

To send the teach in telegram to the gateway, proceed as follows:

  • Navigate to the main menu (refer to 7.1 on page 32).
  • Select the SETTINGS menu option.
  • Select the INSTALLATION menu option.
  • Press the menu button. TEACH IN appears on the display.
  • Press the menu button to complete the “teach in” process.
  • TELEGRAM SENT appears on the display and a radio symbol is displayed.

Nominal value setting

  • Press the menu button.
  • Turn the menu button clockwise to increase the temperature. Turn the menu button anticlockwise to decrease the temperature.
  • Press the menu button to save the entry.

Room occupancy setting
If the A5-10-02, A5-10-06, A5-10-06 + RPS, A5-10-11, A5-10-11 + RPS, or A5-10-23 EEP profile was activated during commissioning, the “Room occupied” function is available on “R-Tronic”. This can be switched on when the room is occupied and switched off when exiting the room. You can switch the setting in the display menu from “Present” to “Absent” and vice versa by pressing the menu button twice.

Menu lock setting
Once the teach in process has been completed, the menu lock is automatically activated and the “padlock” symbol appears. It is not possible to navigate to the main menu when the menu lock is activated (7.1 on page 32

Reset “R-Tronic” to factory settings
Proceed as follows to reset the “R-Tronic” to its factory setting:

  • Navigate to the main menu.
  • Select the SETTINGS menu option.
  • Select the FACTORY SETTINGS menu option.
  • Press the menu button. RESTORE appears on the display.
  • Press the menu button. Select the YES menu option.
  • Press the menu button to confirm your selection.
  • You have reset the wireless thermostat to its factory setting and can reconfigure it.
