Before configuration, make sure the thermostat is installed and powered up, and ensure you have:

Step-by-step set-up instructions

  1. Select a language.
    • Tap the language to select.
    • Tap to view more languages.
      Siemens Switzerland Ltd. declares that the radio equipment type RDS110.R is in compliance with Directive 2014/53/EU.

  2. Set an administrator password to prevent access to advanced settings.
    We recommend a strong password, particularly if the thermostat is installed in a public location. If you decide to skip this step, you can also set the password later under > Advanced Settings > Password.Siemens-RDS110.R-Smart-Wireless-Thermostat-fig.3
  3. Two ways to set up a network connection:
    • Select Network – Follow the on-screen step-by-step instructions to connect to a WLAN1 network.
    • Push Button Setup – Connect to a WPS-compatible router.
      Note:
      You can skip this step if the network connection fails or if you want to connect to the network another time.

    • Press the WPS button on your router when prompted by your thermostat.
    • Tap Connect on your thermostat to connect to the network.
    • After a connection is established, continue with other settings as desired.
  4. Select the equipment type.
    • Tap to manually configure the thermostat.

  5. Select the network connection type.
    • End or home users
      Selecting Private WLAN means that the thermostat is connected to your own WLAN network. You need to choose and manage your password.
    • Institutional users
      Selecting Administrated WLAN means that the thermostat is connected to the facility WLAN network. The password is provided by the facility managers and under their control.Siemens-RDS110.R-Smart-Wireless-Thermostat-fig.6
  6. Configure the time zone.
    • Tap the installed location on the map.
    • Select the time zone (Tap to view more time zones).

  7. Name the thermostat location.
    • Tap the text box.
    • Select a pre-defined room name from the drop-down list or enter the room name manually.

  8. Tap Start to restart.
    The thermostat restarts immediately. After restart, the home screen is displayed.
  9. Set up the mobile application.
    Using smartphones running iOS 10.0 (or above) or Android 5.0 (or above):
    • Make sure the smartphone is connected to the Internet.
    • Download and install the free mobile application Siemens Smart Thermostat RDS from App Store® or Google Play™.
    • Follow the mobile application startup steps to register your account.
  10. Activate your thermostat. This links the thermostat to your registered account.
    • Make sure the thermostat and smartphone are connected to the Internet.
    • Using the application’s built-in QR code scanner, scan the QR code on the activation code sticker shipped with the thermostat.
      You can also enter the code manually.
      Note: Only one activation code can be connected to one account.

You have successfully registered and configured your thermostat and linked with your registered account. You can now enjoy using your Smart Thermostat.

Operation

Connecting the thermostat to a wireless receiver (RCR114.1) or valve actuator (SSA911.01TH)

  1.  Power up RCR114.1 (via wire) or SSA911.01TH (with battery).
  2.  On the thermostat Home screen, tap , then and . The
    Advanced settings screen displays.
  3. Enter the administrator password when prompted.
  4. Tap and thenSiemens-RDS110.R-Smart-Wireless-Thermostat-fig.12.
  5. Tap Pair new devices, then follow the on-screen instructions to press the push button on RCR114.1or SSA911.01TH. Depending on your set-up, establishing the connection may take some time.
    Notes:
    • Set the DIP switch on RCR114.1 to configure the device as a relay or repeater before connecting it to the thermostat.
    • Add a repeater (RCR114.1) if the connection fails due to low signal strength (distance or blockades (walls, etc.)).
    • The thermostat can only connect to one heating system type at a time – so it cannot simultaneously control a wireless relay and a valve actuator.
    • The thermostat can control up to 6 wireless relays or up to 6 valve actuators.

  4. Green leaf: Energy-optimized mode.
    Red leaf: Tap to restore the energy-optimized mode.

  1. Tap the Menu icon to display detailed information and settings.
  2. Tap to show additional measurements.
    Note: Only applies if an external sensor is connected. Otherwise, humidity is displayed.
  3. Tap to display notifications (only visible if any).
  4. Room temperature.
  5. Tap to toggle between At home and Away.

  6. Tap to switch between AUTO and Manual:
    Siemens-RDS110.R-Smart-Wireless-Thermostat-fig.17Works according to a scheduler, or temporarily follows the current user setpoint, until the next scheduled switching point.

  7. Tap or slide to change the room temperature setpoint.
    The heating output is energized.
    No heating output is energized.

Mobile app

  1. Options, room name, setpoint and scheduler settings.
  2. Room humidity, outside air temperature and air quality (if available).
  3. Green/red leaf indication
  4. Tap to switch between AUTO and Manual (see the previous page).
  5. Room temperature
  6. Decrease setpoint, current setpoint and increase setpoint.
  7. Current mode (Comfort, Economy and Unoccupied). Time for the next mode
  8. Indication of the current widget and total widget number. Swipe to view different widgets such as trends for actual temperature and temperature setpoint, heating demand or DHW (if configured).
  9. Tap to toggle between At home and AWAY.
  10. Copy the current schedule to other days.
  11. Days the week
  12. Tap to add a switching point. Tap to select and move a switching point.

NOTE:
To go to the scheduler page, tapSiemens-RDS110.R-Smart-Wireless-Thermostat-fig.20, and then tap Thermostat schedule.
You can change the mobile app’s background color from dark to light or vice versa.
To change the theme color

  1. In the app, tap Siemens-RDS110.R-Smart-Wireless-Thermostat-fig.21> Account.
  2. Expand the Theme field and select a background color.
