INTRODUCTION AND INTENDED USE

The radiator thermostat O81RF can conveniently regulate the single radiator according to the wireless commands received from the C801 weekly thermostat that can manage up to 8 radiator thermostat. The weekly thermostat C801 has an internal sensor that measures the temperature in the room/zone and cyclically transmits it to the radiator thermostats O81RF. Communication between weekly thermostat and radiator thermostats is bi-directional. This ensures that the information sent reaches the recipient.

INSERTING (REPLACING) BATTERIES

  • Pull off the battery compartment cover.
  • Insert two LR6 (1,5V mignon/AA) alkaline batteries in the battery compartment, making sure they are the right way round.
  • Replace the battery compartment cover and latch it into position.
  • After inserting the batteries, the radiator thermostat has to be mounted on the radiator fi rst (see chapter 6.). Afterwards, the radiator thermostat will start an adaptation run (see section 7).
  • A battery symbol (Fantini cosmi -O81RF- Radiator- Wireless -Thermostat- fig (11) ) indicates that the batteries need to be replaced. After removing the batteries, wait approx. 1 minute before inserting the new ones.

Important notice: Never recharge alkaline batteries. Doing so will present a risk of explosion. Do not throw the batteries into a fi re. Do not short-circuit batteries

MOUNTING ON A RADIATOR

The O81RF radiator thermostat is easy to install, and can be done without draining heating water or intervening in the heating system. No special tools are required, nor does the heating have to be switched off. The union nut attached to the radiator thermostat can be used universally and without accessories for all valves with a thread size of M30 x 1.5. By means of the adapters in the delivery, the device can be installed on radiator valves of type Danfoss RA, RAV and RAVL series.

ADAPTERS FOR DANFOSS

  • One of the enclosed adapters is required for installation on Danfoss valves. The arrangement of the suitable adapter ring for the appropriate valve can be found in the following figures.
  • The Danfoss valve bodies have elongated indentations (E) running all around (see arrow), which also ensure better seating of the adapter after it has been latched into place.
  • When installing, please ensure that the spigots inside the adapter (D) are in the same position as the
  • indentations (E) on the valve. Latch the adapter, which corresponds to the valve, completely onto the valve body.
  • The RA and RAV adapters have been produced with pretension to aid better seating. Use a screwdriver during installation if necessary and bend these gently upwards in the area of the screw.
  • After they have been latched onto the valve body, fasten the adapters with the enclosed screw and nut. With the RAV type of valve, the tappet extension (F) should be placed on the valve pin before installation. The RAVL adapter does not have to be screwed on.Fantini cosmi -O81RF- Radiator- Wireless -Thermostat- fig (12)

Important notice: When installing, please ensure that the spigots inside the adapter (D) are in the same position as the indentations (E) on the valve. Latch the adapter, which corresponds to the valve, completely onto the valve bodyFantini cosmi -O81RF- Radiator- Wireless -Thermostat- fig (13)

SUPPORT RING

The valves from different manufacturers may have tolerance fluctuations that make the MAX! The radiator Thermostat is more loosely seated on the valve. The stability and seating of the valve can be improved using the provided support ring. Place the support ring (G) into the flange or onto the valve connection on the radiator and screw on the thermostat valve. If the support ring cannot be fitted, there is adequate stability and it is not needed for installation.Fantini cosmi -O81RF- Radiator- Wireless -Thermostat- fig (14)

ADAPTER RUN

  • Once the batteries have been inserted, the motor reverses; meanwhile, “InS” and the activity symbol (Fantini cosmi -O81RF- Radiator- Wireless -Thermostat- fig (7) ) are displayed.
  • As soon as “InS” is displayed without the activity symbol ( Fantini cosmi -O81RF- Radiator- Wireless -Thermostat- fig (7)) the electronic radiator thermostat can be mounted. This is followed by an adapter run (“AdA”) to adapt the thermostat to the valve.
    • Attach the radiator thermostat to the valve.
    • Tighten the union nut.
    • Press the boost button when “InS” is displayed.
  • The actuator performs an adapter run. “AdA” and the activity symbol ( Fantini cosmi -O81RF- Radiator- Wireless -Thermostat- fig (7)) are displayed; during this time, operation is not possible.
  • If the adapter run has been initiated prior to mounting or if an error message (F1, F2, F3) is displayed, press the Boost button; the motor reverses to the “InS” position.

Note: Teach-in mode can be activated even whilst “InS” is still displayed.

TEACHING-IN OF C801 PROGRAMMABLE THERMOSTAT

The O81RF radiator thermostat must work with a C801 weekly thermostat; for this reason, each radiator thermostat will be taught-in to the weekly thermostat directly. These then take over the settings of the weekly thermostat (e.g. mode, temperature, week program). To teach in, proceed as follows:

  • First activate the teach-in mode of the C801 weekly thermostat by pressing and holding down the Boost button;
  • Now activate teach-in mode on the O81RF radiator thermostat by pressing Boost button for at least 3 seconds; The teach-in time remaining (starting from 30 seconds) is displayed
  • If teach-in has been successful, the devices will change back to normal operating mode.Fantini cosmi -O81RF- Radiator- Wireless -Thermostat- fig (15)

Notes: As soon as the radiator thermostat has been taught in to weekly Thermostat, all data such as date, time or week program are transmitted to it via radio connection. The O81RF radiator thermostat can only be taught-in on one C801 weekly thermostat.

RESTORE THE FACTORY SETUP (rES)

The O81RF radiator thermostat can be reset to the initial state manually. Restoring the initial state deletes all settings and information about taught-in devices. To restore the initial setup, proceed as follows:

  • First remove the batteries from the actuator and wait 60 seconds.
  • Press and hold down the three buttons (Auto/Manu, BOOST, ) while you re-insert the batteries.
  • Once the factory settings have been restored successfully, “rES” is displayed and after few seconds the device goes to “InS” status.

AUTOMATIC/MANUAL SETTING

  • To switch between operating modes, press and immediately release the Auto/Manu button (the operating modes only become available for selection once installation is complete).
  • Auto: Week program – automatic temperature regulation in accordance with the time profi le saved (comfort/economy) in the C801 weekly thermostat.
  • Manu: the temperature set manually using the hand-wheel is maintained permanently.

Note: If the operating mode or the temperature on one O81RF radiator thermostat in the room/zone is changed, the change will be adopted by all devices associates.

SET “BOOST” OPERATING (BOOST)

  • The Boost function can create the sensation of a rise in room/zone temperature to the human body. When activated the radiator valve will immediately be adjusted to 80% valve opening for 5 minutes (factory setting). The heating of a room/zone takes longer than 5 minutes but the radiated heat from a radiator can be sensed immediately.
  • To activate the “Boost” function press the BOOST button. The countdown in second intervals of the remaining functioning time (e.g “300” to “000”) and BOOST will be shown on the display.
  • The Boost function can be deactivated at any time by a renewed press of the BOOST button.
  • Once the Boost time has completed the Wall Thermostat will switch back to the previously active mode (Auto/Manu) and the previously set temperature.

Notes: The parameters of the “BOOST” function can setting only in the by the C801 weekly thermostat. If a long “Boost period” and a large valve opening have been set the radiator can get very hot. After changing the factory setting check that the radiator is not heated excessively. If the duration of the “Boost function” is set so that 999 seconds are exceeded the display will show the duration in minutes.

COMFORT ED ECONOMY TEMPERATURE
The comfort/economy temperature button (Fantini cosmi -O81RF- Radiator- Wireless -Thermostat- fig (10) ) makes switching between comfort and economy temperature simple and user friendly. The temperature values are setting by the C801 weekly thermostat.

Note: If the operating mode on one O81RF radiator thermostat in the room/zone is changed, the change will be adopted by all devices associates.

CHILD-PROOF LOCK / OPERATING LOCK (Loc)

  • Operation of the device can be locked to avoid unintended changes through involuntary touch. To activate or deactivate the operating lock proceed as follows:
  • Briefl y press the “Auto/Manu” and “ ” buttons simultaneously. Once activated, the “Loc” word is shown on the display for few seconds.
